Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, born on March 26, 1991 also known professionally as Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and was the first female to be signed for J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. In October 21st, 2016, she released Pho, her first EP for the label Dreamville Records. It was at this point that she gained her first the attention of her peers. Shea Butter Baby released her first studio album 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox started uploading her music onto the internet in 2012 when she launched her debut mixtape called Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography, in 2013. In 2014 she continued to share her music over the internet including her independently launched single Bound. The 21st of July, 2015 was the day she appeared on Omen's album Elephant Eyes in the song Sweat It Out. J. Cole had her submit her tracks for the Dreamville Team later that year because he was hoping for Rihanna to be able work with her on some references. The official signing ceremony was held with Dreamville Records on 8 December. Backseat was her contribution for The Revenge of the Dreamers II album. In the month of October the singer-songwriter released her debut EP, Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening act on behalf of J. Cole on his song Change in 2017. She also was a part of the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. She also appeared in 2018 on two tracks with her labelmates EarthGang to Nothing but the Best. and Bas in Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th of July 2018 was the first artist to release her single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. A music video was released on September 5th. On November 9 she released two singles titled 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. On November 13 two new singles titled The No One and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby was released on her debut single, February 26, 2019 to accompany the album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby appeared with Cole as part of her Creed II sound track on November 16. In February, the music video for the track debuted. It has had over three million YouTube views within a week. In December of 2018, she was a supporting act on The From East Atlanta With Love Tour in conjunction with 6LACK.
